2012 Kin Bin Tin Nah, never did remembering the name of this book cross my mind. That quickly changed two pages in. Psychics, people in trances turning blue, and that’s as much as I’ll say about that. I’ve been following the short stories of Mr. Miller for about nine months, finding them, well written, provocative, and enticing. They’re new to someone who’s not into reading much dark fiction. However, they’ve become must reads, so it was wonderful to have this delivered to my door.
It’s fast paced, well researched and developed; a good read.
The characters are appealing, at least, “the good guys”, and the antagonists are pure evil. Alvin was the most colorful and likable, making me laugh; he’s not your hero “type”. The back and forth between the lead character, Cal and his love interest Linda, adds just enough romance to take your mind off, “the end of the world” type scenes. There was literally little time to breathe, the action keeps you going. The only disappointment is the length; some of the characters are worth knowing better.
If you’re interested in Mayan culture, those facts are fascinating. It’s not what I expected, all gore, but it is what I’d hoped for; well written. When his next book comes out, I’ll be there to read it. This writer keeps getting better and better.
If you love dark fiction and even if you don’t, it’s worth the price of admission. I'm finding it hard to give a specific genre, it's dark fiction.
This was originally an e book which has just come out in print. Reader: Suethebookworm57 Rating: 8/10 Reviewed: October 04 2009
