Fearless Fourteen | 10/10 - | 2 reviews |
| | | | Author: Janet Evanovich Genre: ComedyI loved this book! In this Stephanie Plum book, everyone is looking for nine million dollars never recovered from a bank heist. Everyone thinks it's buried in Joe Morelli's backyard. Stephanie and Joe are babysitting, Mario Morelli aka Zook who may or may not be Morelli's son. Mooner, the lovable stoner, is back. Lula and Tank are engaged and Steph is blue. It was hilarious. I definitely recommend this one to Stephanie Plum fans. Reader: Jackie Lo Rated: 10/10 Review submitted on: January 20 2009
I've just finished the latest in the Stephanie Plum series and I'm not happy. They're such fun I never want them to end; it's hard to wait a year for the next. Stephanie is once again surrounded by her friends, family and unwanted bad guys in a hilarious story which makes her so popular. She and Joe are a couple in this book and I like that, I'm rooting for Joe in each book.
He's painted so well that I can imagine his looks and find him an intrinsically good man. I feel silly saying this but Joe is definitely "hot". Lula is back as her usual hysterical self; Grandma Mazur continues to get into trouble, along with some other funny characters to keep you wanting more.
In this story everyone is looking for nine million dollars never recovered from a bank heist. They're ripping up Joe's backyard to find it and he's not happy.
There's no way to explain Evanovich you must experience her writing for yourself. Always the great comedian she's pulled off another great read.
Descriptive, well paced and written, I always recommend a few hours with Stephanie Plum. She'll definitely brighten your day. Reader: Suethebookworm57 Rated: 10/10 Review submitted on: July 16 2008

| | | | Author: Janet Evanovich Genre: ComedyGood quick read. Janet's books are always very funny and enjoyable. Reader: Michelelee86 Rated: 9/10 Review submitted on: May 13 2009
Once again the antics of Stephanie Plum have had me laughing. Ms. Evanovich has a great character and does a wonderful job with comedy. This is an in between the numbers book since fans always have trouble waiting for the next in the series. The usual suspects show up, but this one features the enigmatic Diesel. He's one of the men who pops in on Stephanie’s life from time to time to send her on another crazy venture. She is in search of Munch who has teamed up with Wulf; Diesel’s target.
We have Carl the monkey, rockets, kidnapping and adventures in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. The characters run the complete gamut from scary to ridiculously funny. I always enjoy a day with Stephanie, it’s just good fun. Reader: Suethebookworm57 Rated: 9/10 Review submitted on: March 11 2009

Holidays on Ice | 9/10 - | 1 review |
| | | | Author: David Sedaris Genre: ComedyThis culmination of short stories with a Christmas theme had me laughing out loud! I found myself reading lines to friends and family only to have read the entire story. If you enjoy self-deprecating, sarcastic humor, this is a must read!
Santaland is by far, the most hilarious story I've read to date....he takes a job as an Elf at NYC's Herald Square Macy's. Anyone from Long Island or the tri-state area will hestitatingly relate to the mad Christmas crowds!
Sedaris' mind is quite intriguing, and had me looking forward to each new story. I couldn't put it down! Reader: Karen in Kailua Rated: 9/10 Review submitted on: April 29 2008

Metro Girl | 9/10 - | 1 review |
| | | | Author: Janet Evanovich Genre: ComedyWhen a young woman leaves her everyday job in New York to visit her brother in Florida, she is truly thrown for a loop. This is an amusing, one sitting read that takes you from the ridiculous to the sublime. Alexander Barnaby, nicknamed Barney, grew up in Baltimore working with cars and is an excellent mechanic. There is no way to describe the story of a "wished she were a mechanic", young woman and "Nascar guy"
(Hooker). The adventure is whimsical and enjoyable. Evanovich always delivers a laugh, chuckle and bellow that leave my husband looking confused. This is excellent comedic writing. Her books are always an antidote for a bad day. Especially good for all ages and not one bit serious. Not for the uptight. Reader: Suethebookworm57 Rated: 9/10 Review submitted on: June 21 2008

Twelve Sharp | 9/10 - | 1 review |
| | | | Author: Janet Evanovich Genre: ComedyAnother great Stephanie Plum book! In this one, someone has stolen Ranger's identity and has kidnapped his daughter. The police think that it was Ranger and he ends up hiding out in Steph's apartment and her bed! The Ranger imposter thinks he IS Ranger and he only needs Steph to complete his fantasy. When he kidnaps Steph, it is hilarious. I giggled all the way through it! Meanwhile, Lula joins Sally Sweet's band and they tour Senior centers, which is why Grandma Mazur eventually joins the band. Joyce Barnhardt is back and annoying as ever. New to the cast of zanies is Melvin Pickle who takes over Lula's old file clerk job. Oh, and Tank and Lula "hook up". Suethebookworm, if you haven't read this one, you will really enjoy it. Highly recommended to all Stephanie Plum fans. Reader: Jackie Lo Rated: 9/10 Review submitted on: November 12 2008

High Five | 8.5/10 - | 2 reviews |
| | | | Author: Janet Evanovich Genre: ComedyThe new minor characters introduced in this book were interesting. A few of the plot points seemed not just formulaic, but simply repeats of earlier books in the series (really, it's stretching the 'suspend disbelief' idea to have one bounty hunter have her car blown up so often). Still a fun read and the book ends differently than normal as the heroine Stephanie Plum invites a love interest over but the reader is left in the dark as to which of her two main interests has showed up. I will read at least the next book in the series, and probably more. The characters who appear in each book are interesting enough to keep my interest. Reader: Faith Rated: 8/10 Review submitted on: July 25 2009
This was a really good one. Number 5 in the Stephanie Plum series and just as good as the rest. In this one, Plum's Bail Bonds doesn't have many FTAs, so Stephanie works with Ranger. Stephanie is also looking for her Uncle Fred who has disappeared and she has an angry little person sleeping on her sofa. There's a bookie named Bunchy following her around. And, oh yes, Ramirez is out of jail and is looking for her. With the usual cast of zanies: Joe, Grandma Mazur, Ranger, Lula. Great book. Hot Six | 8.5/10 - | 2 reviews |
| | | | Author: Janet Evanovich Genre: ComedyWhile I got a little confused on some of the crime family characters, it didn't really matter. By the end of the book I wanted to read the next one in the series. There was still a lot of formulaic plot points, but enough new touches to bring in some zest. Reader: Faith Rated: 8/10 Review submitted on: July 31 2009
Another great Stephanie Plum novel. In this one Ranger is wanted for questioning in a murder. Steph gets a dog, Bob. Grandma Mazur moves in with Steph and is attempting to get a drivers license. Steph is also being followed by Joyce Barnhardt and two hit men. Other returning characters are Joe, Lula, Connie. New to the group of crazies is a stoner named Mooner. Great book. Hilariously funny. I definitely recommend it. Reader: Jackie Lo Rated: 9/10 Review submitted on: September 15 2008

Naked | 8.5/10 - | 2 reviews |
| | | | Author: David Sedaris Genre: ComedyTHis was a very entertaining book. There was one specific part in this book that made me actually laugh OUT LOUD, and that is not an easy feat! Some of his material goes just a little too far for me, however it is right in line with his style of writing and his directed audience. The memoirs that are overly honest aren't my cup of tea, but I enjoyed this book by Sedaris. Reader: MO BookWoRm Rated: 7/10 Review submitted on: November 14 2009
Another hilarious compilation of short stories that leave you asking, "he did not just say that...!" So creatively entertaining, again, I had to read portions of the stories out loud to my friends and family.
Highly recommend all David Sedaris' books to anyone who wants to laugh out loud and is in need of a sense of humor!
A word of caution, he's quite sarcastic and self deprecating and some readers may be insulted by his writing style. I however, do not and can't wait to read another of his books!! Reader: Karen in Kailua Rated: 10/10 Review submitted on: July 18 2008

Seven Up | 8.5/10 - | 2 reviews |
| | | | Author: Janet Evanovich Genre: ComedyI liked this one. It seemed funnier than usual and it suits this series - when it gets too 'dark' it loses its credibility for me.
I found it started a bit slow but it had been a bit since I read #6 so that might have been a factor. Reader: Faith Rated: 8/10 Review submitted on: August 24 2009
Another great Stephanie Plum book. In this one, she is trying to catch cigarette smuggler, Eddie DeChooch, who keeps giving her the slip. He's so old, even Grandma Mazur won't go out with him again. While searching for Eddie, Steph and Lula discover a body in the garden shed. Dougie and Mooner, the lovable stoners are back and are kidnapped. Steph's sister, Valerie is back in Jersey and is trying to become a lesbian. Vinnie even goes out on an apprehension. And Joe Morelli proposes marriage while Ranger wants to spend the night with Stephanie. Hilariously funny. A definite must-read for Plum fans.
