So captivating. I was drawn into the story from the first few pages. It is a book everyone must read. Even though it got depressing at moments, I couldn't stop reading it. It kept me awake at night long after I'd read the last page. It is a book you 'll never forget.

This book claims to be the inspiration for my favourite book EVER, Marley and Me by John Grogan. I read Marley and Me first and while I thoroghly enjoyed both books, I feel that Marley inspired Dog's Life. Either way, enjoy them separately or together, these are both great book and an absolute must read for all animal and book lovers!!!!

This is a historical fiction that is suppose to be historically accurate. It is a little slow at times, but you will find yourself unable to put it down. Definitely one of my favorites! I recommend this to anyone!

I think this is one of Sparks' best novels, if not the best out of what I have read thus far. Dear John contains all the classic elements of this beloved author: romance, small town charm, etc. It seems to me that in this novel Sparks delves deeper into his characters, creating complex personalities, which in turn makes the surprising ending all the better. The book ends very well, wrapping up a quick read. Highly recommended.

Devil's Corner10/10 - 2 reviews
 Devil's Corner
Author: Lisa Scottoline
Genre: Mystery and Suspense
I really, really liked this book! I think that I read it in one sitting.....moving around my place to find the quietest corner to keep reading!

This was the second Lisa Scottoline book that I read, and I wasn't disappointed. The action starts from the first line of the book, as the main character is caught with a gun at her head and the fast pace keeps up through the rest of the book.

Although I did spend half of my time thinking "what are you doing?!?" to the main character Vicki Allegretti, the book is well written with interesting characters and a really fast, twisting plotline!

I can't wait to read more!

Starting with her first effort, Everywhere That Mary Went through Daddy's Girl, I've enjoyed myself with her skill in telling a story. Perhaps I love her books because she takes me around Philadelphia and out to Devon, my old college town. No, they're just good. You'll follow Vicki Allegretti on an adventure that just gets more and more intense. Vicki is a young lawyer who's passionate about her job; this causes trouble. Her unlikely alliance with Raheema, a woman in jail for trading guns for drugs is the sympathetic, touching part of the story. Vicki has instincts which can't be ignored so she ends up risking her life in the name of truth. There's a lot of dashing around Philadelphia's less than perfect neighborhoods, stakeouts and confusion. It would ruin the book to tell you more but I guarantee no disappointments. Well developed, thrilling adventures along with well executed character descriptions keep Scottoline at the top of her game. Her books are not about law, they're about special women lawyers and their adventures with the law. They're not just for women.

Fearless Fourteen10/10 - 2 reviews
 Fearless Fourteen
Author: Janet Evanovich
Genre: Comedy
I loved this book! In this Stephanie Plum book, everyone is looking for nine million dollars never recovered from a bank heist. Everyone thinks it's buried in Joe Morelli's backyard. Stephanie and Joe are babysitting, Mario Morelli aka Zook who may or may not be Morelli's son. Mooner, the lovable stoner, is back. Lula and Tank are engaged and Steph is blue. It was hilarious. I definitely recommend this one to Stephanie Plum fans.

I've just finished the latest in the Stephanie Plum series and I'm not happy. They're such fun I never want them to end; it's hard to wait a year for the next. Stephanie is once again surrounded by her friends, family and unwanted bad guys in a hilarious story which makes her so popular. She and Joe are a couple in this book and I like that, I'm rooting for Joe in each book.
He's painted so well that I can imagine his looks and find him an intrinsically good man. I feel silly saying this but Joe is definitely "hot". Lula is back as her usual hysterical self; Grandma Mazur continues to get into trouble, along with some other funny characters to keep you wanting more.
In this story everyone is looking for nine million dollars never recovered from a bank heist. They're ripping up Joe's backyard to find it and he's not happy.
There's no way to explain Evanovich you must experience her writing for yourself. Always the great comedian she's pulled off another great read.
Descriptive, well paced and written, I always recommend a few hours with Stephanie Plum. She'll definitely brighten your day.

An amazing but raw look child sexual abuse from the perspective of the perpretator and the victim. The descriptions of the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours of the abused and the abuser are very real to life.<br />
A great read but not for everyone.

Just Listen10/10 - 2 reviews
 Just Listen
Author: Sarah Dessen
Genre: General Fiction
I just read this book and its really great. Its about a girl who everyone think its so perfect and have the perfect life and family. She loses her friends and its alone in high school until she meets a boy named Owen who teaches her what she can do to improve her life. Owen its all about being honest and open about yourself, unlike Annbel (who is our man character) who keeps everything to herself.

I think readers will like this book, and some of them can relate to Annabel or Owen.

Oryx and Crake10/10 - 2 reviews
 Oryx and Crake
Author: Margaret Atwood
Genre: General Fiction
Years after reading this book I still think about it often, and was excited to read it again.

The first time I read this book I was a little confused by the disjointed narrative, as we learn about 'The Snowman's' past life and his current predicament. With the second reading I was able to get more from the narrative as I understood the relationships and consequences of some of the characters actions.

This book was equally as intriguing and powerful the second time. This, for me, is a highly enjoyable book based on a frightening premise.

This is a brilliant and frightening look into the future, where man's deeds have come back to haunt him.

Atwood's dark humour takes this serious subject and creates an intriguing, engaging and mesmerizing book.

The narrative switches between present day and the past which led up to his current situation. The book brings up many questions as to what our future could be like.

I found this books very interesting, well written and extremely engaging. Highly recommended.

Persepolis: The Story Of A Childhood10/10 - 2 reviews
Persepolis: The Story Of A Childhood
Author: Marjane Satrapi
Genre: Biography and Memoirs
I highly recommend this book. The author does a lovely job of weaving together biography, history, politics, etc. into a story not only of her childhood, but of a country. It's an entertaining (despite being deep, not 'fluffy') & quick read that I think would be suitable for adolescents as well as adults. The format is such that many of us who wouldn't normally read this kind of subject matter are able to be informed as well as entertained, a nice accomplishment!

Since finishing this book (which took only hours to read) I've had the story, visuals and characters on my mind. The childhood of Marjane is told through her eyes in comic strip form.

I felt that this unusual style of writing a biography benefitted this story as the content was graphic, disturbing and political at times, and would have overhelmed the reader had it been written in a traditional manner.

I look forward to reading the sequel.

This is my all-time favorite book. The main character, Elizabeth Bennet, is an endearing character for her humor, wit and level-headedness. Although this book was written centuries ago, it is still so enjoyable today because of the romance, drama and humanity of the characters. A must read!

The Book of Negroes10/10 - 2 reviews
 The Book of Negroes
Author: Lawrence Hill
Genre: Historical Fiction
This novel is a riveting saga of one woman's struggle from slavery to freedom. Although this is a novel it is based on historical facts and I was engrossed in the story from the first page to the last. Many parts of the book were hard to read but I believe that we have to learn about man's inhumanity to man in order to prevent these periods in history from happening again. I would absolutely recommend that everyone read the story of Aminato Diallo.

This brilliant novel follows the life story of Aminata Diallo, who as an 11 year old was taken into slavery in Africa and survived the sea-voyage to America.

She tells of years of slavery, using her mind to gain a better life for herself and her eventual freedom. We follow her around the world, through her many trials and tribulations, as she tries to return to her place of birth.

While there are sections of the book that are difficult to read, Hill richly recreate this dark time in human history.

The Forgotten10/10 - 2 reviews
 The Forgotten
Author: Faye Kellerman
Genre: Mystery and Suspense
The book begins with the discovery of a hate crime. The shul Rina and Peter Decker attend has been desecrated with Nazi propaganda and hateful graffiti. Peter investigates and collars a student at a wealthy private high school. The plot gets moving when this student and his therapist are found murdered.
"The Forgotten" is about the return to the family life of the Deckers. The family works to help each other even while there is distrust and uncertainty. Jacob, Rina's teenage son and Peter's stepson, must share information about many of his classmates, some of whom end up inside this murder mystery.
This is one of those books you may never forget. It is shocking and gruesome sometimes, entering a work which would frighten most of us. This is number one on my list of Faye Kellerman’s books. When finished, I sat with my jaw hanging.
Read it, please, but not if you’re squeamish.

Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus Novel-
This highly skilled writing by a genius in this genre is complicated and unsettling.Rina and Peter are both shocked and alarmed by the decadency which is uncovered. They are horrified by the defiling of their synagogue, and the story takes off. The criminals, plots, and sinister acts must be uncovered. There is a murder to solve, and depravity which disgusts me, but is none the less essential to the story. The secrets and terrors must be unlocked and further crimes prevented. The characters are described in groping detail. As usual she gives you something to think about in an exciting story line. Peter and Rina are at their best and hence, so is Faye Kellerman. This one you'll be glad that you read, but will definitely think about it. It's a "head scratcher". Excellent !
